He is a former Associate Artist at Nottingham Contemporary and Fermynwoods Contemporary Art. Sam is currently studying for a Masters’ in Fine Art at the University of Leeds whilst developing a practice founded in drawing and digital compositions. This work is often displayed or distributed in non-institutional contexts

Current and forthcoming projects:

As part of his MA, Sam is crafting wearable and domestic objects to be exchanged, gifted, adapted or appropriated in a spirit of DIY. The desire to find new social purposes for his art, such as conducing acts of collaboration, is a reaction to feelings of pessimism created by crises such as the Coronavirus pandemic.

Since becoming a co-director of GLOAM Sam has also been busy with administrative and curational tasks at the volunteer-led artspace. Several public events are planned for the new year, having been postponed due events in 2020
