Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Meeting
Wednesday 31st May, 13:00-14:00 over Zoom.
YVAN invite you to this meeting run under the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion group which explores different topics and issues within the creative sector, where speakers bring knowledge from their specialty and there is space for questions and discussions relating to the topic of the meeting.
Introducing Failspace
FailSpace is based on the principle that learning from failure should be an integral part of the process of making and implementing cultural projects and policies — but our research suggests that this is not always welcome in formal evaluation processes, which tend to focus on celebratory facts and figures about a project’s success and conceal or brush-off negative outcomes or issues.
As part of FailSpace, we have created a series of tools designed to help everyone in the cultural sector instigate more honest and open conversations about failure between colleagues, artists, funders, participants, participants and board members. The tools can be accessed on the FailSpace website and also introduced via online or in person workshops led by members of the FailSpace team including a network of regional FailSpace Champions.
Working as a FailSpace Champion, Pamela Crowe will give an overview of the tools we've created to help everyone in the cultural sector instigate more honest and open conversations about failure. The tools are all open access and available for you to use and adapt as you wish.
During this talk, Pamela will give an introduction to FailSpace and an overview of the tools and resources we have created - all of which are open access and available for you to use and adapt as you wish.

About the EDI group
The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion group is a development of a previous internal working group at YVAN. The group aims to challenge current practices, show commitment to mental and physical wellbeing and share knowledge, bringing together voices and lived experiences to help the creative and cultural sector in the Yorkshire and Humber region make better decisions.
We have a meeting every 6 weeks, each with a different topic, so you can come to those sessions of particular relevance.
YVAN do not claim to be the benchmark on EDI in the arts and acknowledge we will fail on occasion, but we are working towards best practice, alongside our national network through the Fair and Equitable campaign.
