Travel budget £200
Time scale: Oct 2026 - 31 Jan 2027

About the Programme
We are building connections across Global Majority communities in South Yorkshire, demonstrating their similarities and creating a network for support and learning.
For a more detailed description of the programme and background see this document: Creative Routes Programme Outline
The Rotherham based participants in the programme will share their cultural and creative skills with new groups, and build their confidence and connections. They will also learn new skills from appropriate Doncaster based workshop facilitators, through peer to peer mentoring.
We know many women from marginalised communities are fearful to travel on trains and buses alone. We will support the use of train and bus travel from Rotherham to Doncaster and vice versa to remove anxieties and build confidence. By working with individuals we have a relationship with, we will take them to meet a new community in Doncaster with purpose. There will be workshops where the new groups can share experiences and bond, especially by creating a publicly accessible resource.
While the public outcome may change it is expected, by the end of the programme in March 2028, there will be a cultural guide produced to help individuals navigate a new city to relevant and safe spaces, encouraging use of public transport to go and see arts and cultural activities, places or events and to access different natural resources, like meadows, rivers, parks etc.
